A perfect gloomy Sunday event took place yesterday at Smitty McGee’s in Fenwick Island, DE. Ocean 98,1 Irie Radio hosted the annual event, with funds collected benefitting the PJ Aldridge Foundation. Here at GCFL, we are big fans of good bloody mary’s and enjoyed having the chance to taste such a wide variety of flavors. The Asian Bloody Mary from the Galaxy was a good twist on the classic, with a more tangy taste. The spicy version from Seacrets packed the heat, but was also full of flavor without completely burning your mouth, that got my vote for spiciest! Fager’s Island had the most drinkable bloody mary, I see a brunch at Fager’s in our future. Fish Tales bloody mary was a meal in itself, full of lump crab meat…the drink itself wasn’t bad either. Port of Dewey Beach had the perfect size taster, with a hint of crab meat and a floater of Guiness. I would love to try a full size portion as it was a very smooth drink.
My opinions aside, the winners were:
Best Overall – Fish Tales
Best Presentation – The Starboard
Spiciest – Matteo’s
