Classy Walk Back in Time, St. Johns College vs USNA Croquet Match
Growing up in Anne Arundel County, historic Annapolis was the place where I had my first job, first internship, 21st birthday, bachelorette party and rehearsal dinner. Many milestones have taken place in this town, and its been 15 years since the last big one…that is until this past weekend.
St. Johns College, historic small college in the center of town, one I had driven by over and over again back in high school. Never thought much of it, knew they were one of my fathers clients for decades, as we had taken family trips out to the campus in Santa Fe a couple times over the years, that is until this last year. For three years now, we have had my cousin Robyn living with us and attending Stephen Decatur High School, and about a year ago she set her sites on attending the college of Great Books. Really, it is the perfect place for her, she devours books. The story is this, she applied, she was accepted, and this past weekend was what she wanted to do for her 18th birthday.
Getting to the heart of the matter, this past weekend was the 30th Anniversary of the St. Johns College vs United States Naval Academy Croquet match. Not your typical sports match up, but what an amazing event. We took the weekend and dressed up…well some of us did… and walked up the brick walk to the festivities. I think the photos tell it all…the style, the grace …the bottles of champagne. I digress…check out the photos and then plan to attend next year, as we will be.
