Taking a walk through historic Berlin on a balmy February evening, I notice all of the small businesses we walk past on Main Street. Some vacant spaces exist with just enough activity to realize a new business will soon be going in. We have a couple restaurants, and hope to have a couple more join the ranks of the businesses on our Main Street town. A coffee shop, jewelry store, bakery, antique stores, art galleries, gift shops and a cigar store to name a few. Small towns such as this needs small business to thrive, we don’t want the big box stores to pollute our hometown, we want businesses that are owned by those who live in our community.
I am not a fan of credit cards, but when I saw this commercial it struck a cord within me. Every day should be small business day. Take the time to stroll through the wonderful locally owned shops in your town.
