Local Focus: Small Business Saturday

I look forward to working the day after Thanksgiving because the last place I would be is anywhere near retail stores on this mad day. When Small Business Saturday was being promoted last year, I thought that would be more my speed. Living in a small town, full of antique stores, art galleries and boutique shops, this makes perfect sense to me. If we don’t support our community, how can our community thrive? Take some time this Saturday, and scope out some small businesses where you live, and make some holiday purchases in those places. Every little bit helps. If we can wean ourselves from the big box stores and chaotic shopping malls just enough to show the small businesses our support, we can all make a difference in our communities.
