Getaway to St. Michaels at The Wildset
The summer months are the busiest time of year for us, but this year instead of rushing through the spring to get there we have decided to enjoy April and May to the fullest. With a slower schedule mid-week, we booked a night away in St. Michaels, MD at The Wildset.
In November I came here with my sisters and mom to celebrate her birthday, and enjoyed it so much I knew I had to bring Todd at some point. Well this was the perfect time of year. We lucked out on having amazing weather, and decided to eat our way through the historic town. We started with lunch at Ava’s on the patio out back, a cocktail at Foxy’s and dessert at Limoncello.
The Wildset is a quaint inn, located right in town on North Talbot Street in St Michaels. The property has been renovated into a minimalistic style, with clean lines and cozy linens in the room. Beautiful fixtures, spacious bathroom and a wonderful continental breakfast with delicious coffee from Ceremony Roasters make this the perfect place for a last minute getaway.
We had a dinner reservation at Ruse, and I was so excited to introduce Todd to their deilcious menu. Our server encouraged us to try a little bit of everything, as there are plenty of small plate options. We started off with cocktails, Todd had the Arctic Monkey, and I had a glass of the Viognier. We enjoyed a variety of raw oysters and a Smashed Cucumber Salad with our cocktails. I definitely want to try and replicate that cucumber salad, it was phenomenal! Moving onto the next round of small plates, we also ordered a bottle of a French red blend, Les Grenadines, that we liked so much we ordered a bottle to go! Crab Rangoons made with ricotta cheese was a decadent part of the meal. Grilled Prawns over a slice of sourdough and an order of Grilled Asparagus completed out meal. We finished off the night with a glass of wine by their fire pit out back.
I can’t wait to come back in the fall, to enjoy the cozy atmosphere and incredible dining options in this amazing town.
