Shakespeare said, “Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind/ Therefore is winged cupid painted blind.” Shakespeare got it right in my opinion; love indeed is blind. But why is it that we feel the need to express this love the most on Valentine’s Day? Shouldn’t we love one another every day of our lives? You may not realize it, but we do…a kiss before leaving for work, flowers sent for no reason, a whispered “I love you” in your loved-ones ear when you think they are asleep. It’s all the little things we do that add up to one big expression of love, but it always seems to be a bigger deal on Valentine’s Day. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not bashing on Valentine’s Day, I’m just saying that Valentine’s Day could be everyday.
I try very hard to live my life full of love everyday. Just a smile to a stranger will brighten their day. You never know how you may touch someones heart, it could be the only love they felt that day.
Sometimes love is just shown through respect of others. I truly believe that receiving love is one of the greatest feelings on earth (thank you DB for showing me this!). How incredible it is as a mother that I get to teach my girls about love and it’s many forms. Through friendship, parenting, kindness to strangers, living life through the Lord, the list goes on…..
So whether you are single today or spending it with your loved one, remember as I always say “somebody loves you”!
