Ok ok ok … yes the Dew Tour is coming to town, or rather is in town. They have been setting up since last week. Truly is quite a spectacle, downtown Ocean City, MD at the moment. Officially beginning on Thursday is when spectators can watch the athletes at work. Now yes I have always been an avid skateboarding fan, with a little practical experience myself. We used to have a half pipe in our backyard and for awhile it was the best way to work out my legs… I do enjoy riding on 4 wheels I must say.
Back in my younger days I longed to date a skater boy…without realizing that one day I would be married to one. Yes, as a female I do appreciate the finer points of watching the sessions at the Ocean Bowl or X Games, and now with the Dew Tour. Meaning that not only are they terribly talented at maneuvering the boards, but they are also not bad on the eyes. Anyway, the athletes will be arriving into town any moment now, and those of us who have always appreciated the sport are very excited to say the least. Now that we have kids who also enjoy skating, we are very much looking forward to taking them on Sunday to the Vert Finals.
Tuesday was the Unlock the Spot, which gave locals and visitors alike a chance to skate a spot that is usually off limits, behind the Ocean City Convention Center. You can see some photos herefrom that event. Today will also be the Commotion Down the Ocean at the Ocean Bowl Skate Park, come and check out the competition with some of the pros coming out to show their support for the Grind For Life foundation. Local Maryland favorite, Bucky Lasek will be participating in both the Commotion Down the Ocean and a couple events at the Dew Tour. Maybe I will be lucky and get the opportunity to meet him, and take a photo for our site.
