It can become overwhelming when you start to break down the origin of not only the food, but products you use on a daily basis. Sure, there are plenty of things that are produced locally, or regionally. As far as food, we are at the beginning of a perfect time of year to gather a wealth of produce, seafood and even meat and poultry locally. I came across a perfect “pledge” that helps break it down in simpler terms, and also to do in moderation.
If not LOCALLY PRODUCED, then Organic.
If not ORGANIC, then Family Farm.
If Not FAMILY FARM, then local business.
If not LOCAL BUSINESS, Fair Trade.
