Music Makes the World Go Round: Save the Music

The 54th Annual Grammy Awards were last night, and being a true music fan they were definitely entertaining. Foo Fighters are one of my all-time favorite bands, and was very happy they won a couple of Grammy’s themselves last night. Hands down, Dave Grohl had the best acceptance speech, even though he got cut off from completing it.

Not every music fan has the same taste in musical preference, but one thing I would love to see more of is acceptance and less overall judgement. Don’t bash what you don’t know. Be respectful, not ignorant. If you don’t know who someone is, instead of “tweeting” idiotic comments, take 2 seconds to Google Sir Paul McCartney. He is a legend, and deserves at least a bit of your respect.

Music cures what ails me:
When I am sad, it cheers me
When I am mad, it helps get the aggression out
When I am happy, it makes me even more joyful
When I am frustrated, it calms me

I wish everyone could have the same cure when listening to or playing music. Not all have the accessibility to truly feel the gift of music. Learning to play the violin and piano when I was a child, has always stuck with me. I may not be able to play anything more than Jingle Bells at this point in my life, but I had the experience of learning to read music and play music. The VH1 Save The Music Foundation has been working for years to bring music to those who may not have access. Take a moment and see what you can do to help support the cause, or how you can work with your community to keep music alive.
